Canada Launches Pilot Program

 In today’s blog, let’s talk a bit about Canada’s proactive precautions to tackle its labor shortages. A new pilot program, set to begin in September 2023, plan to simplify the hiring process for employers who regularly utilize the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program.

The Recognized Employer Pilot (REP) will give an efficient process for these employers, permitting them to fill in-demand roles in specific occupations.



One of the noteworthy developments of this program is the extension of the Labor Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) validity time period from the present 18 months to a more prolonged 36 months. LMIAs are very important as they confirm the need of recruiting a temporary foreign worker when no Canadians or permanent residents are on hand for the job.

The REP program will be launched in two phases, with the first phase concentrating on the Primary Agriculture stream, including roles like livestock labourers and farm machinery operators. The second phase, initiating from January 2024, will comprehend a broader range of industries, including healthcare, food service, and construction.
